Fixed Location Inrico PoC Radio Assembly

TM-7 Plus and TM-9 Desk Setup

Yes! PoC radios can also be mounted at fixed locations, just like it appears in the image above. Achieving this is very simple. In this blog, we will show you everything you need to achieve the most effective PoC radio setup for fixed locations, including all the components you will need.

Reasons for Setting Up Inrico Mobile PoC Radios at a Fixed Location

  • Centralized Communication: Provides a central point for managing and coordinating team communications, improving overall efficiency. In most cases, this central point is an office location where dispatch is carried out. It can also be called a base station.
  • Power Stability: A fixed setup can be connected to a wall socket, which provides stable power source, eliminating concerns about battery life.
  • Integration with Other Equipment: Allows integration with other fixed communication equipment, such as desk microphones or external antennas, where users can conveniently facilitate communications.

By setting up an Inrico mobile PoC radio at a fixed location, users can leverage these benefits to optimize their communication systems.

DEFINITION: A base station is a fixed radio transceiver system installed at a stationary location, such as an office or control room, used to communicate with mobile or portable radios within its range. These stations are crucial for coordinating large teams in industries like public safety, construction, and logistics. For Inrico PoC radios, range is not an issue due to nationwide cellular connectivity. When setting up a PoC radio base station, focus on organizing your communication hierarchy, especially if establishing multiple stations. Assign each base station to specific teams for efficient management.

Components for your PoC radio setup at fixed locations

At Expert Mobile, we carry everything you need to set-up ANY configuration of base station you require. However, for this purpose of this blog, the setup is very easy, as it simply entails mounting an Inrico PoC radio at a fixed location. Here are the factors to consider:

  1. How will you receive and send out communications?
  2. How will you push-to-talk (PTT)?

1. How you will receive and send out communications?

All you need to receive and send out communications from a fixed location is an Inrico mobile PoC radio.

We recommend you select either the TM-7 Plus or the TM-9 for mounting at your fixed location. Both PoC radios will enable seamless nationwide communications, allowing you to Push-To-Talk (PTT) messages via the radio's attached palm microphone or you may instead choose to use a desk microphone for convenience (for details, see no. 2 - How will you push to talk).

With well organized groups on your company's PoC network, you can simply issue out communications from your Inrico mobile PoC radio mounted at a fixed location.

To mount the Inrico TM-7 Plus or the TM-9 at a fixed location, you will also need the Inrico TM Series AC Power Adapter (sold separately). This accessory enables you to connect the TM-7 Plus to a wall socket for stable, continuous power. See below for wiring instructions.

Wiring for Wall Sockets

Connecting the TM-7 Plus and the TM-9 to a wall socket is simple. Once you have the TM Series AC Power Adapter, simply connect the red wire of the 2-pin cable (comes with your radio) to the positive terminal of the power adapter (sold separately), and the black to the negative terminal.

After connecting the wires, you can safely plug it to the wall socket to begin using your radio as a base station.

2. How will you push-to-talk (PTT)?

You may want to improve the convenience of your PTT operations when at a fixed location. Although the Inrico PoC radio you choose will come with its own microphone, which will enable you to send out communications, we recommend simplifying you PTT operations with additional accessories - like the desk microphone. This helpful accessory will help to improve your PTT operations as it can be seamlessly mounted on your desk for convenience.

Desk Microphone

Ideal for fixed locations, it provides a superior  way for you to PTT at a desk without having to grab the palm microphone of your TM-Series radio. Excellent transmission quality.

2. Cell Boosters

Cell boosters can significantly improve the coverage of a PoC base station by amplifying weak cellular signals. They work by capturing existing signals with an external antenna, amplifying them, and then rebroadcasting the enhanced signal within a specific area. This ensures that your PoC base station has stronger, more reliable connectivity, even in areas with poor cellular reception.
